TATTOO AFTERCARE

Tagaderm/ Second Skin Bandages

If you have a Second Skin/Tagaderm bandage on the area, you can safely leave the bandage on for up to a week. Do not soak the bandage in water.

For larger areas with a lot of weeping and bleeding, a new bandage may be applied 24 hrs later and then left on for the next 6 days.

Remove the second skin bandage by getting the bandage wet and pulling the edges parallel to the skin.

If there is dryness on the tattooed area use a light, non scented lotion when it feels itchy or tight.

Tattoo Aftercare ( no Second Skin/Tagaderm)

leave the temporary bandaging on for a minimum of 2 hours. Bandage can be left on until later that night/ before bed.

When the bandage is removed, wash the tattooed area using your hands and with mild soap and water. Do not soak the tattoo.

Pat the tattoo dry with paper towel and let it air dry for a few minutes.

Apply a very light layer of the provided ointment ( A&D or Tattoo Goo ). It is important to use only a sheer layer of ointment to allow oxygen to get to the healing skin underneath.

For the first 2-3 days, your tattoo will be weeping fluids similar to a cut or burn. During these first few days, you should wash+dry+apply ointment 2-3 times a day.

Around 2-3 days, the tattooed area will become dry and begin to flake and scab.

When the tattoo is dry and no longer has weeping of fluids you can then start using an un-scented lotion.

Apply the lotion in a thin layer when the tattoo it itchy or tight feeling. Do not apply the lotion in a thick layer. It is still important to have oxygen reaching the surface of the skin.

Use an un-scented, light lotion- no oils, butters or ointments.

The flaking stage will last around 10-14 days. During this stage it is very important that you do not pick or disturb the tattooed area. The protective scabs should stay in during the healing process. Do not soak your tattoo in water. Always dry the tattoo immediately after washing.

Always follow the suggested aftercare provided by your tattooist.

Avoid sun exposure or tanning until the tattoo is done flaking -approximately 2 weeks.

Use an SPF product on your tattoo prior to uv exposure to help maintain the vibrancy of your tattoo.
